Rotary members are tackling environmental issues the way they always do, coming up with projects and using their connections to change policy and planning for the future.
We are committed to supporting activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment.
We empower communities to access grants and other resources, embrace local solutions, and spur innovation in an effort to address the causes and reduce the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
Our Club’s effort to prevent the further decline of Monarch butterflies due to their habitat and food source being taken away is to assist another Rotary Club in their efforts to purchase and plant Maryland Native Milkweeds and flowering plants to attract Monarch butterflies. The Towsontowne Rotary Club works with a high school to support students interested in working with their hands in building little libraries. The students learn to use home construction techniques in building the little libraries and the finished project is placed in the butterfly gardens. This support the education component of the project aimed at teaching students about the life span and reproduction of butterflies.
We planned on building Fixit stations within these trail areas…
