Angelo Otterbein is an entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience working largely in the education technology sector serving the K-12 market.
Over the last 10 years, after moving to Monkton, MD, Angelo purchased and has been restoring two historic landmarks in Northern Baltimore County: The Monkton Hotel and Manor Mill. The Monkton Hotel, built in 1858, is a mixed commercial and residential property, while Manor Mill is a pre-revolutionary grist mill that now serves as a creative hub and community gathering area, and includes a fine arts gallery, a music venue, a barn for woodworking, a ceramics studio, offering workshops in almost every discipline.
Beyond his professional career, Angelo is deeply involved in the community, serving on the boards of several non-profit organizations. He is Board President for the Sparks-Glencoe Community Planning Council, Treasurer for the Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County, and a board member for the Baltimore County Commission on Tourism and The Fire Museum of Maryland. Angelo was valedictorian of his high school class at St. Paul’s School and is a graduate of Princeton University, where he earned a degree in English Literature with a certificate in Teacher Preparation.

Designed by the Char Hope Foundation, their Rooting Recovery Program, is a unique social care farming approach combines the National Ag Literacy Outcomes with the renowned 12 Steps of addiction recovery. Rooting Recovery participants engage in hands-on learning opportunities including homesteading, commodity marketing, gardening, equine therapy, and exposure to general farm life. Agriculturally based healing with direct lessons on our social care farm and homestead creates a safe space for authentic, impactful, personal discovery. Our residents have the opportunity to learn through vulnerability, self-reliance, trust, and personal development.

The Rotary Club of Towsontowne-Hunt Valley is pleased to have representatives from Arrow Child & Family Ministries share the purpose and mission of their organization onMarch 26. Tracey Coleman, Director of Community Engagement, Jen Renault, Sr Vice President of Maryland, and Sue Barnes-McLendon, Associate Vice President, will discuss Arrow’s services to families and children in Maryland. Sue McLondon has served with Arrow Child & Family Ministries for the past 25 years. Sue, originally intended to take the job working with students with special needs for a “short term”, but then fell in love with Arrow’s mission! Arrow, who has operated in Maryland for 27 years, seeks to always “Helping Kids, Strengthening Families” through their special education, child welfare, and behavioral health services. Arrow meets the needs of over 200 children and students across Maryland. A special educator by background, Sue is driven to make sure that every child in Maryland has access to what they need to succeed, no matter what the challenges. Growing up locally here in Maryland, she received her education in Psychology and Special Education from Towson University and Loyola University.
