My Lady’s Manor Steeplechase

Time: April 13th – 1:00 p.m.

Location: 3407 Pocock Road. Hereford, MD 21111

Feel free to pack a bottle of wine and some of your favorite picnic foods or pick up a lunch box or some food along the way to bring with you. We thought it would be fun to share in an old Maryland tradition out in beautiful horse country, and what’s better than gathering for a timber race steeped in history – the 113th running of MY LADY’S MANOR STEEPLECHASE, located at 3407 Pocock Road. Hereford, MD 21111. It can also be described as Jarrettsville Pike (MD 146) at Pocock Road in Monkton, Maryland 21111.

You will probably want to carpool with friends; individual tickets are not sold for this event – the admission price is paid in the form of a parking pass, which is good for however many people arrive seated in your vehicle; parking pass prices start at $55 and go up to $510 for the really serious horse racing fans. There are usually four races at this event, and photos on the website suggest that wagers can be made. It was recommended on the website that groups should try to purchase their parking passes in one order so they have a better chance of being able to park together. If you give me your order and cash soon, I can put a group order together for parking passes. You can also order your own parking pass online if you prefer.

For more information check out the website at https://www.manorraces.com/ or write to: info@manorraces.com or phone (443) 595-6304. People bring food and drinks, and some people go all out, bringing tables, chairs, silver candelabras, wine glasses, etc. If you park off course, which is the only kind of parking you can get for $55, you will need to keep in mind that whatever you bring, you can expect to carry for a fair distance, so I recommend that you keep it simple unless there are some strong people in your group who will help you to carry your seats, food, drinks and whatever else you bring to the event.

There are some restrictions which you need to be aware of – please refer to the website for these restrictions, which are intended to protect the horses as well as their riders and everyone in attendance. Particularly noteworthy is their restriction that says that you cannot arrive by LYFT or UBER or in an extremely oversized vehicle.
